There will always be different strokes for different folks, but I think you and I agree that there is no animal with a nobler spirit than a dog and they deserve our respect and best stewardship.

Very well said.

The truth of the matter is that any "training aid" - be it for dogs or for any other animal - is only ever as good or as bad as the human being on the other end. People tend to misuse them as an all-in-one substitute or a quick fix - sometimes out of ignorance (willful or not) and sometimes out of pure laziness.

I read the book, but did it with the clap of hands, and her treat was some of dog food that I would save! Age has been a plus for me, and she barks when home alone? I won't use a bark collar, cause she is inside and gets stressed out when I do leave. Tried chews etc., however, she now as she did
get mellow with time and age.

LOL!!!!

I hope so too. But I'll have patience with him -- we have to undo five years of mischief.

Ok,..you have identified the problem. Now move forward because the dog deserves it.If you are lower than the dog in his eyes? What can i say now politely?

Niles our Yorkie, only needed to wear the bark collar a few times. Now when he barks, we just have to say, "where's that collar?" He stops barking instantly.
