Seriously. I mean how can a thread bashing an entire generation (that just happens to be young) and calling them all "whiners" continue to go on for days? If I created a thread claiming that boomers are a bunch of cranky, cantankerous instigators of trouble, how long do you think it would last? Shall we experiment?

Well...from the looks if it years:

//www.city-data.com/forum/busin...-deserved.html

I don't know where you created your thread, but a lot more controversy (thankfully) seems to be tolerated in the business, etc sub-forum than some of the others. If someone made the above post in the retirement section I'm sure it would get much different treatment. I mean, don't the oldsters need a place where they can discuss their next method for extracting wealth form youngsters?!

I've noticed the same thing... don't really care if you can find 'factual basis' or not.
Just observed the bias on the part of the mods editing things etc.
It's natural and just part of life, mods function from their own background. . I'm not throwing the temper tantrum you are, but nether am I gonna stay quiet when you say what you did.
No reason at all you should stay quiet - disagreement is the whole point here, to a certain extent. We disagree, and that's fine. However, I didn't accuse you of throwing a temper tantrum, and my post certainly was not one, so I'm a bit mystified as to where that remark comes from.

It was in the About this Forum subforum. And all I was asking in my thread is why many of them have a tendency to post smug, condescending remarks when someone much younger comes on here with an issue in their life. Hell, the person's already beaten up about whatever it is s/he is dealing with, then you have some smug a**hole telling him to quit whining or to "man up". I understand there's a time and place for that kind of feedback, but it's not really here, amongst complete strangers who don't know everything about you. And this isn't even just about me. I was speaking on behalf of other younger posters whom I've seen this happen to.

Are you really expecting to get a greater level of commiseration and tolerance for poorly directed vent and rant flailing from complete strangers than from those who do actually "know everything about you"?

Oh, t was pointed and intentional.

You see you were insulting of the other posters OPINION (which you just said others have a right to) and spoke to him in a tone which I was curious wether you could dish out but not take.
Thank you for the answer... No less than I expected, and adding to his point (about typical treatment/ gen gap)

Sorry for the shortness, hope that makes sense, I'm on my iPhone

You didn't like my tone, and that's O.K., but that's not the same as a temper tantrum. There was no temper tantrum. I could link you to some temper tantrums if I wanted to spend the time. Indeed, you are not making a lot of sense.

No, I expect people to ask questions about those things they do not know or understand, rather than to assume they have this person or that person already figured out. But while we're on this subject, I guess I just assumed someone of your rational proclivity would understand that. Oops, looks like I'm following by example now. Shame on me.

Does that make sense? If you think something is "poorly directed", fine. Ignore the thread. Trust me, no one is begging you to insult them. Nobody wants to read condescending, RUDE posts when they are already going through a tough time. If you don't have any compassion for these people or their issues, then get off this forum. Plain and simple, WE DON'T WANT YOU HERE! Now, that's not necessarily directed towards you, but to those guilty of such repugnance.

Well, the experiment has already been done, as pointed out by someone else, and you are wrong. "Boomers are a bunch of cranky, cantankerous instigators of trouble"! I don't see anything wrong with that, from the point of view of the rules here. I might argue against it, but I certainly wouldn't report it. And I certainly wouldn't have a cow over it. Why don't you experiment? I've seen boomers castigated mercilessly on C-D.

You don't like the word "whiner", so I won't use it. I will just suggest that you grow up and stop complaining. Were you raised to believe that no one was supposed to criticize you? Much typing has been expended here for nothing, including mine, I'll admit, but I can't resist rebutting B.S. when I see it.

I think you extrapolated a lot on people you've never met.
