Requirements are not stringent and "greedy companies" have no incentive to reject claims at this time as the stimulus act does not allow current unemployment to count against their rating by the states.
Essentially, if you have worked at a job long enough to qualify for benefits and you have now been laid off or furloughed, you get both state benefits and federal benefits. In some states you need not even look for work while collecting during the crisis. If you simply quit your job and walked away or got caught stealing or were fighting on the job you normally won't qualify. Is that what you consider stringent?
Don't understand who these people are who are moaning about $1200 not being sufficient.
Unemployed are getting $600 more per week on top of their regular benefits. That alone is a healthy portion of money per month, likely more than many were earning (thanks to that bonus) in first place. On top of that they are getting $1200 tax free stimulus money.
Sounds to me those clamoring for more free money are the ones who were broke/busted before this pandemic and will be so afterwards without a steady and healthy infusion of other people's money.
How many are actually receiving Unemployment Benefits though? Anyone can apply but many claims can, and will, be rejected. So basically only a select few will actually receive the extra $2400 via unemployment. Everyone else gets $1200, if and when it ever gets deposited, and that's it.
Essentially they are pretending to help everyone but are actually giving more money to wealthy owners of corporations and leaving the majority of Americans to fend for themselves high and dry.

That is a stringent requirement.
Most jobs in the economy were not even full time jobs they were temporary jobs through agencies. And these agencies laid people off as soon as they saw that you might be able to collect Unemployment benefits citing false reasons or anything they can think of to block a claim. You're living in a fantasy world; these companies do not want you collecting Unemployment Benefits.
And your comment on work search requirements being relaxed is pointless; since that only applies if you're actually already receiving the benefits.
Here is the story I was quoting. There's another one saying for many the $1200 might last them 3 months as far as help.

Well excuse me and millions of others, they must be living high on the hog if they even need the $1200 to begin with and we are so sorry that because their income is above $75,000 you won't get the full $1200.
Some people live on under $20,000 a year and those on $80,000 can not?
If they are making $80k per year they should not even need the stimulus. It starts getting phased out at $75k anyway.
Guys, context. $80k isn't what it used to be in 1980. Wages have stagnated for 3 decades. What does that mean? Less buying power for those who are not wealthy. Why does $80k sound like a lot of money? Do you live in one of the most expensive MSAs? NYC, San Francisco? DC? If not, $80k is NOT a lot of money. Especially for a family of four.
ANd before you say, "Well you can eat cat food, walk, and use an Obama phone." Nobody should have to waste their lives WITH a job living like that. Should they be ballin'? No. But people should be able to carve out some sort of meaningful life without people like you bashing them for not being able to save 20% of their income.
If you want to bash someone for not saving enough, there are plenty of targets. They are listed on the stock exchange.
I have a retired friend receives a 6 figure federal pension, cuts grass at a golf course 6 months a year just for something to do, now he's laid off from that so now on top of his pension he's collecting unemployment and the $600 extra a week too. Normally he collects unemployment in the winter when his grass cutting job is over. Nice gig if you can get it...
Federal Government needs to set up a THINK (comprised of genuine common sense political business and political genuis') TANK immediately. We will never become a democratic powerhouse again until we bring all those jobs and all the manufactured goods back to the USA (China is Job #! Culprit). Worldwide Trade is a disaster! He's able to cut grass for a living because he "has a 6 figure federal pension." Context. Personally I don't think he should be getting the $600 per week, from Unemployment, if he already has a six figure income; but that's just me.
It depends on where we are 4 months from now when the $600/week unemployment boost ends. Contrary to what some say, that was a very generous "stimulus" targeted at the people who are truly losing money right now and I think as long as that's going they won't do a 2nd stimulus round.
