They have a colon cancer screening program in the UK They do not rely upon routine colonscopies as much as we do in the US, but that is because they have not found it to be of any greater value than less invasive tests for people who are not at high risk for colon cancer. A lot of those diagnostic tests do more harm than good especially when done often or in young people but this is probably not the right thread to discuss this.

I have had doctors' offices make me sign papers for refusing to take them. Some doctors are more understandable than others but I do feel they are testing less than lets say 20 years ago, thank God.
