The GOP would have been better off with a Clinton win. As it is, Trump is going to have to destroy pretty much everything they stand for if he is to accomplish what he promised. In a lot of ways, Trump sounds very "New Deal". He won by promising government will save you. Example: rebuild our infrastructure putting millions to work.

The parties have been rebuilt several times throughout American history. The Democrat Party of Jackson was fairly similar to Trumps platform in many ways.
