The republicans control the White House, Congress (both House and Senate) and the Supreme Court.

Yet, since he took office we have seen more gun regulations either proposed or enacted at local and federal level (and ccw reciprocity is going nowhere at the moment), illegal aliens and refugees allowed to stay as before, drug laws not being enforced which allows states to effectively nullify federal law in practice, Obamacare was not repealed and no retaliation in the budget against sanctuary cities.

Any explanations on what the heck is going on ?? Is it the media putting pressure, or the republicans don't actually believe in their own values ?

If you look at American political history, we are due for a realignment soon. The pendulum is swinging left after 4 decades of Reaganism. Before realignments happen, there is usually a pattern of policies being adopted that are contrary to the party in the majority. For example, Jimmy Carter deregulated stuff and passed a modest tax cuts because he could sense the country was swinging to the right

Given that the republicans won the popular vote only once in the last 7 presidential elections (2004), I think you could be right.

There should be no federal laws prohibiting drugs. Why was an amendment needed to enact alcohol prohibition?

Paleoconservatism has put a bigger blow to Reaganism than the left.

I respect your opinion, but this thread is about understanding the mechanisms behind the furthering of the liberal agenda in a republican controlled America.

Read this article if you want to understand more:

Is Donald Trump the Next Jimmy Carter?

Political scientists have argued that Trump represents the last gasp of a failing coalition. But we might be in a new political era altogether.

The Republicans are in the majority. Control is done with 60%, not 50%. The false notion that the majority may just do as it pleases is just that - false. Although some misinformed people may believe it and some informed people may feign ignorance.

What is amazing is not just that they don't have total control, it's that they are conceding to almost every demand from their opponents.

If this is so then what are liberals constantly complaining about?
