Any explanations on what the heck is going on ?? Is it the media putting pressure, or the republicans don't actually believe in their own values ?
For starters, the scotus is far from (R) controlled. There are 3 solid conservatives, and one that leans that way. The moderate is Kennedy, and the fat he rewrote not only American history, but human history with his homo-marriage vote shows him to be left leaning on social issues.

In regard to (R) "control of Congress", it takes a few (D's) to get things done, and the leftists who have co-opted control of their party have decided opposing Trump at every turn is the way to go. So the only way to truly lay blame at the (R's) doorstep is to give them 61 in the senate and control of the House to see if the establishment can finally break free of the go along to get along swamp mentality.

Default The Blue Wave Is Growing

The Trump effect. Every new poll gives Democrats the advantage and by a wider margin than its previous poll results. The RealClearPolitics Average jumped giving Democrats a +7.6 advantage.

Fox News Poll

Quote:
With five months until Election Day, Democrats hold the enthusiasm advantage -- and that puts them ahead of Republicans in the congressional vote as well.

A Fox News poll released Thursday finds 48 percent of voters favor the Democratic candidate in their congressional district and 39 percent the Republican. That 9-point lead is up from a 5-point edge the Democrats held in March (46-41 percent).
NBC News/WSJ Poll

Quote:
Despite that economic optimism, however, the poll shows that Democrats enjoy a 10-point advantage on congressional preference, with 50 percent of registered voters wanting a Democratic-controlled Congress, versus 40 percent who want a GOP-controlled one.

Democrats held a 7-point edge on this question back in April, 47 percent to 40 percent.
Quinnipiac Poll

Quote:
American voters say 47 - 40 percent, including 44 - 35 percent among independent voters, that they want to see the Democratic Party win control of the U.S. House of Representatives this year. Voters say 48 - 41 percent, including 45 - 38 percent among independent voters, that they want the Democratic Party to win control of the U.S. Senate in this year's elections

Really?

That blue wave fizzled in California, a staunch blue state. RCP is grasping at straws.

Yes, "the Trump effect". It's not as though the party in power is always at a disadvantage come midterms. If Trump wasn't the POTUS repubs would be in a much worse postion.

This is a replay of the last election when "the polls" showed a Dimocrat Senate and Presidency

It won’t matter.

The rich will keep getting richer while everyone else works longer hours for lower pay.

Neither party represents average Americans.

While democrats are definitely going to pick up seats, this is a really *weird* way to look at this data.

You really need to look at this on a race by race basis because what good does it do if you win one seat 90-10 but then lose 3 seats by 40-60?

If you mash all the numbers together you "won" 210-190 but lost 3-1 on actual seats.

We should get a much clearer idea in a month or so as to how many seats are at risk, certain to lose etc. now that the primaries have completed and then see if there is a realistic chance of regaining the house\senate...but at this point even just narrowing the Republican advantage in the house might be a good first step.

No its not.

Its going to be a wave. Not a ripple. Not a tsunami.

The house is going to be very close either way. The GOP still gains 2 or 3 seats.

I don't know how it will turn out, but Rasmussen reports that enthusiasm is tilted in favor of.......................................
The Republicans.
Republicans Are More Eager to Vote This Year Than Democrats - Rasmussen Reports®

Dems have taken the lead in polls; Trump's approval remains about the same as Obama's at this point in history.

No matter what comes out of the NoKo talks, Dems will claim the US was duped, and Pubs will claim a new world order has been established. I expect the Pubs will win the argument given the probability that the media will oversell its nonsense and undermine its already flagging credibility.
