You’d have a point if you weren’t basing your theory on a straw-man. Democratic gains were massive regardless the president.

I will say though, that the "republican" party is different from conservative Americans.


For example, Bush was a "republican" and this article points out he was more or less a liberal:

The 3 "historic" seats the OP bragged about is down to 1, pending the outcome in Florida, and maybe the Mississippi runoff (though that one will likely stay republican).

Indeed, and a majority of Republicans (52%) would support postponing the next election if Trump proposed that, effectively making him dictator.
