Good for her. I don’t care about party. I just want women and minorities to finally have a say in government. I’m tired of men being in control

Men, or white men?

Well, which is it? You do realize, do you not, that some minorities are men? In fact, my new County Executive and County Councilman are both black men. Are you OK with them having a say in government, or do they fall under the men that you are tired of being in control?

No. Human beings win congressional seats and governorships, etc. Period.

Anything other identity label is demeaning.

There was nothing particularly historic about this election.

Historic to this day is the Constitution which set up gridlock for the public good.

And thank goodness for that.

Enjoy!

Your comment is true and it is a good thing, not bad but when it comes to numbers of course it is a historic day when a party picks up seats during an off year election and this has nothing to do with your feeling about the minorities. That is a different topic altogether. As for changing our country, I think you are getting a little dramatic about this. There are a lot of gays holding public office: women have been picking up seats for several years now and this is certainly not a new thing to have Hispanics holding office. what about Cruz and what about the outgoing governor of NM for starters?

Oh for heavens sake. talk about someone who seems to base their voting and reasoning on gender and race, you are at the top of the line I think. why not vote based on issues?

Historic, but not the record.

The last President to pick up more than 3 Senate seats was JFK. He picked up 4 in 1962. Nixon picked up a couple. And then everyone else lost seats until George Bush in 2002, and he picked up 1. All other Presidents lost Senate seats during their midterms.

The House is a different deal and we don't know the final tally yet. We can see that the World Champion of Losing Seats is Obama at -63 in 2010. Looks like Trump will lose about 35 or so.

See for yourself.
Indeed a +3 pickup is pretty rare for the president's party.

So rare that it isn't happening in 2018.

If GOP holds on to win in FL and loses AZ that will be a +2 pickup.

GOP flipped 4 seats from D to R (FL, IN, MO, ND).

Dem flipped 2 seats from R to D (NV, AZ).

+2 net gain for GOP
