It turned out there was NO difference in voting with or without a college degree either.
I didn't hear anyone saying she would lose, I don't think most people expected it to be a single digit win. The problem is there aren't any 'suburban women', we are talking about Mississippi the state whose claim to fame includes:

Highest rate of obesity in the US
Lowest High School graduation rate
#46 in education
Lowest life expectancy in the US
Worst health care system
#49 in economic opportunity
Second lowest GDP growth

Mississippi deserves Cindy Hyde-Smith. Given another 20 years maybe they can catch up the the rest of the US and elect a Senator who isn't dumb as a rock

How is it an accomplishment? She was appointed to fill the seat and she was running against a black guy geezus, she should have won by 30 points, the only reason it ended up being an 8 point win is because she's so damn stupid

Doesn’t matter. A hanging is a hanging. It was in poor taste to make that statement. Why are you glad she won. How do you think she will help Mississippi

I'm not glad she won. But I do understand the distinction between public hanging executions that used to happen in America and racist mob lynchings.

So as some casual observer of American TV and politics - I didn't do any extra reading, just watched what was shown on American cable news, publications like WaPo, etc. All I know about this election

1)Hyde-Smith is a Republican, Epsy is a Democrat
2)Hyde-Smith is White (and a woman), Epsy is Black
3)Hyde-Smith used a phrase with "public hangings" inside it and therefore "we should" be outraged due to Mississippi's history of lynching, especially Black people.
4)Trump supported Hyde-Smith

What I couldn't tell you, even right now, is what these candidates stood for. I can have some guesses especially based on their party affiliation, but they would only be guesses.

Americans, this is a FAILURE of your public news cycle. You're not talking about substantive issues, like policies, you're not having substantive debates over policies, you're having debates over expressions and word choices. You guys are being swindled. I hope you can see this.
