That's why I don't understand conservatives clutching their pearls over McConnell losing control of the Senate. Sure, Chuck Schumer will be the majority leader, but in reality, Manchin would be the one calling the shots. At least we can finally put bills to a vote instead of letting them pile up on the desk.
I've seen people elsewhere complain about Manchin being a DINO/too conservative and that he should be primaried. They often forget that he's from WV. He's the only type of Democrat that can get elected there. If he loses a primary or he resigns, that seat will instantly go red.
But Manchin has waffled on statehood for DC and Puerto Rico. He could be swayed if Schumer gives him everything he wants and more.
Will David Perdue claim that he (in the 1st election in November) received more votes than Ossoff (in either the 1st election or the run-off) and was therefore the choice of more people in Georgia and should continue to serve as Senator for Georgia? While Perdue received less votes in the run-off than in November, so did Ossoff.
Perdue (1st election) : 2,462,617
Ossoff (1st election) : 2,374,519
Ossoff (Run-off) : 2,211,603 (still counting but not enough to catch up to the 1st election)
Perdue (Run-off) : 2,194,578 (still counting but not enough to catch up to the 1st election)
He can’t because that’s not how election law in Georgia works. They have a run off system that they instituted during the Jim Crow era specifically to disenfranchise African American voters. It’s rather ironic that very system bit them in the a** this time. Bet the GA legislature gets busy ASAP ending run offs.

He will say he got the most votes after all and Ossoff failed to beat his Nov vote total in both of the elections... law wasn’t fair blah blah
