Any person. Family members and friends of electors are persons.
Any person. The person in line in front of you is a person.
Any gift. Saving place in line is a gift. The two persons around you are gifting you the space in line.
Like the countless other states that have very specific laws against electioneering near polling places, Georgia has codified rules preventing political groups from handing out food or water to voters in line as an incentive to vote, but specifically allows poll workers to make water available to anyone who wants it.

The law is to prevent electioneering. I hardly call that Jim Crow on steroids or trying to starve voters.

That all was law before.

This law makes it so EVERYONE is prohibited from handing out food or water to line waiters. EVERYONE, family, friends, strangers, political groups, kids. Everyone.

That's true. It's always been against the law for candidates and organizations to give anything to people to induce them to vote or even register to vote. But it was vaguely written so people could pretend they weren't campaining but rather just being generous.
But what kept happening in recent elections in Georgia was people giving out pizza slices, food, and drinks that were not wearing explicit campaign clothing, but there were clues to let you know. Like the candidate's face.

Like these people:
https://reporternewspapers.net/2021/...zza-to-voters/
And of course they had BS excuses for doing what they pretended they didn't know is wrong, this sort of thing keeps on happening.

Like most laws, the Georgia "no giving anything to anyone at the polling place" law isn't because lawmakers are mean, it happened because of something someone did.

BTW, election day is in early November.
The daily high in Atlanta at that time is typically 68-70 degrees. Down towards the far south in Ga, it'll be a high of about 75 degrees. No one is getting heat stroke from that.

I'm not sure there was a question which the votes answered. Democrats alleged an ulterior motive behind the new laws. Republicans said they were securing the vote.

Neither was answered by the vote.

If you say, Jim Crow on steroids. Those damn Republicans starving people and killing kids. How is the law discriminatory only for blacks?

it's funny to watch dems continually cling to this absurd idea that voters are going to conk out from dehydration while waiting to vote

it's funny with the virus still going on, you would hope Democrats would push 6 ft distance, mask and don't share food or take food or liquids from strangers. Safety first but I'm still waiting to see their connection that is Jim Crow on steroids and only affects blacks.

Its nothing but a campaign tactic by Democrats to stir up their most stupid voters and a signal to their least ethical partisans to cheat. When you see someone saying, "stop voter suppression," they are either incredibly stupid or a hard core partisan who thinks most of their fellow Democrats are incredibly stupid.

MLB took the All star game from Georgia and gave it to a state with more restrictive voting laws. Its much easier to vote in Georgia than it is in New York.

Look, it was a GOP tactic to get more votes. Basically it figured out who would not vote for Republicans and figured out new rules which would have the most effect on people not likely to vote Republican.

That's the factual background. Whether it worked or not is a different issue.

Yeah because black Democrats doesn't have an I.D. and they must be given food and water on the voting line for them to vote. The evil GOP tactic.
