Yes, it is rough for any white woman in a city such a LA to make it, they will be put at the end of the line for anything. This is happening all over the country.

Come on, I know many highly educated experienced white women who have been passed over for great jobs and promotions just because they are white and they need to fill the slot with a so called less educated and less experienced minority.

Open your eyes. Racism is not what you think it is quite the reverse of it.
White women tend to be the primary beneficiaries of affirmative action.

In fact nothing you Republicans do will ever bother Father Pfleger because he has given a lifetime of service to the very people you despise and curse everyday- the black, the brown, the oppressed, the hopeless and the homeless. And he is more than willing to give his life for the same people so if you want to shut him up, that is the only way you will do it. He will not shut up for the Republicans nor will he shut up for the Catholic Church who has tried many times to shut him up with no suceess.
He is everything a man of the cloth should be. He has done many wonderful things in his parrish and in the lives of those he has touched. We are all better off to have him. As for Obama, this is really the church Obama should have joined to begin with. I have been to this church twice myself and, while it is Catholic, it is not your typical mass. It is kind of like "mass on steroids" and you actually come out of it with some feeling!
Excuse me???? What on earth gives you the right to say that Republicans despise and curse the black, brown, the oppressed, the hopeless and the homeless. In doing so, you loose all creditibility. If you really believe that you need to seek medical attention. I couldn't even finsh reading your dribble.

It is a known fact that conservatives give FAR MORE in charitable contributions than liberals. Don't know how this breaks down between GOP and libs, but may run along similar stat lines.

That has to be one of the dumbest statements I have ever read on this board. Perhaps you would prefer to be a black woman.

According to the findings of this report OPM Federal Minority Hiring Overview FY 2003 , black women have it pretty good.

Here's another report with a lot of facts and figures for you: http://www.opm.gov/About_OPM/Reports.../feorp2006.pdf

WHAT cloth are you talking about?

Near as I can tell a man of religious cloth in the US should keep his nose out of politics, or pay the price others pay to get involved.
Excuse me but when a man of the cloth sees EVIL he should speak out against it and denounce it as any other citizen has the right to do. Conservative preachers always get involved in politics- they oppose abortion, oppose pornography, oppose letting us buy a beer on Sunday, oppose the teaching of Darwin's Theory in public schools and they certainly had no problem sticking their noses into the private family business of Teri Shavio. It seems that it is only a problem when a TRUE man of Jesus speaks out. And this man is a TRUE man of Chirst doing the WORK of Christ with the poor day in and day out in neighbourhoods most white people would be too scared to go into.

And you believe that Jesus is applauding in Heaven as this person who supposedly represents Him uses a church to mock one of His children in particular and a whole race of His children, in general? Is that the example Jesus gave us while He was on Earth? Sheesh, the Catholics must have some missing books of the Bible the rest of us don't know about, in which Jesus went to the temple to trash the Romans and Samaritans.

Did Mother Theresa behave this way? And was her work any less difficult or important? She was RESPECTED by people of all faiths, races and ethnicities because she didn't put herself at the center of her ministry and make it ALL ABOUT HER.

Here's the big problem with Pfleger, Wright, and their ilk. They create a "cult of personality" centered around themselves. It's all about THEM, when you get right down to it. They're using the poor people in these areas to elevate themselves, which is bass ackwards. They do get things done BUT the things they accomplish are monuments to themselves and they hold the power. That's why they will fight to hold onto their power so fiercely. (Pfleger threatens a racially charged protest at the archdiocesan offices every time there's talk of transferring him to another parish.)

I remember a contemporary hymn we used to sing when I was a little girl and one of the lines went "We must diminish and Christ increase." THAT'S what it's all about. Pfleger and Wright are pampered and idolized individuals who have complete job security, free housing, insurance provided, and food that magically appears on their tables without them ever fearing from where their next meal is coming.

They are politicians dressed up as clergy and that ensures their future -- if they actually worked in the political arena, they'd have to worry about what they'd do when their candidate/party was voted out of office and other secular people would be holding them accountable. They wouldn't be able to rant away at other groups of people if they expected to have jobs. BUT, in the church, they can claim it's the Lord's work they're doing! (And I guess God must hate white people, huh?!) A stint at seminary makes one untouchable! Well, maybe in this world, anyway.

I cannot speak for Wright because I do not know him. But if you think for a minute that Father Pfleger has a life on Easy Street you should think again. He lives in his church in a small apartment, is paid a small stipend and, when I was there, he was driving a car that was like 8 years old. I think that some business guy took pity on him and actually gave him a better car (maybe that was Father Clements- his partner, I don't remember). And you are damn right- there will be HELL to pay if they try to move him out that parrish where he has spent decades serving that community and building up that church from nothing. But it would not be "racial". Lots of us white folks would be raising hell about it too. And Fr Pfleger nor Fr Clements are not politicians. They just make them try to do the right thing once in awhile.

Okay, you're excused, partially. You need to stick to the subject, KevK. A "man of the cloth" belongs in the pulpit espousing the word of God and the life of Jesus, not spouting hate and politics. And why did you think it necessary to toss Ms. Shavio into this fray? Remember separation of church and state? So he goes into dangerous neighborhoods, good for him, I'm glad he does it, there are people who have the knack to do that, but I'm not one of them, I have no desire to be whupped on for the color of my skin. You go, man!
