You still have not answered my question regarding Sarah Palin attempting to ban books. I'm going to guess since you hate the Muslims attempting to stop publishing of books, you must really not like Palin doing this right?

I'm going to ask again:
What are your thoughts on this specific action by Palin, and the firing of the librarian for objecting?

Can you answer without mentioning "libs" or Muslims?
And can I get you to open your eyes and realize that this is not about "bad press" and "business decisions," but about TERROR?

If you are so concerned about government censorship, consider this: Muslims breed a whole heck of a lot faster than *******s, not to mention their increase in numbers via immigration. What happens when Muslims, who previously used violent intimidation to "censor" what you may read, actually gain access to political office, and begin "government censure" of your reading materials? Will you all of the sudden become concerned, because, OMG! It's the evil GOVERNMENT doing it? Or will you look around you, observe the sea of black body bags and smell the burning tires in the air, realize you missed your opportunity because you are now vastly outnumbered, and decide freedom of speech was always overrated anyway?

As for Palin and whether or not she really censored books -- I haven't read the article yet because I'm far too interested in hearing what you leftists have to say about your own hypocrisy where Muslims are concerned (seeing as how hypocrisy is so odious to you, or so you claim).

You are all so brave when you go up against the U.S. government, who probably isn't going to hurt you in any way. Let's see you show Barnes & Noble some support the next time a Muslim sends them a death threat. Can we get some Code Pinkos and Obamatrons out there by the front door, holding signs proclaiming the importance of free speech and the evils of censorship?

I already answered your questions about Muslims protesting books.

But - as I figured, you could not answer mine without throwing in "libs" and "Terror" and Muslims (what's next, 9/11 refs?), and haven't even read the article this thread is referring to.

Bull****. You didn't answer anything. You can't even acknowledge that what the Muslims are doing is not "protesting," but violent intimidation, much less carry on a conversation about it.

Go read my posts. You see what you want to see. You have not even READ THE ARTICLE THIS THREAD IS ABOUT! You are only in here to somehow tie it into Muslims. I'm not carrying on conversation about Muslims and intimidation - that is not what this thread is even about. Your hatred is scary.

A store deciding to not sell a book is a financial decision. While I think it is weak and ridiculous, that is not Government censorship.

Mayor Palin: A Rough Record - TIME

Mark Twain, Shel Silverstein, JD Salinger... sound familiar? All on the most frequently challenged book list.
I don't see where that link lists Mark Twain, et al.

I also think the article says they're books HER CONSTITUENCY found "socially or morally objectionable" http://www.time.com/time/politics/ar...837918,00.html

Now it seems youre "lastreporter" site is linking to a different article, I'm not sure why but the one above is the one I was directed to. Her VOTERS had a problem with some of the books.

Hey, I don't know. Maybe she was trying to ban books with the "N" word in it. Or books that said bad things about gay people. Or books with the word "retard" in them.

That would be okay, though, right? Because the selected victim groups are shielded from the effects of "freedom of speech".

To answer the original question........ I think it's pathetic and sad. I don't care what your beliefs are or what party you belong to you have no right to tell other people what they should and should not read.

Maybe - but it isn't censorship either.

Unfortunately the more I read about Palin the more I realize that she is just another radical evangelical who wants to insert her warped wrath on Americans. Clearly Palin is dangerous & unacceptable to America; her fate will be that of other radical fundies & she'll take McCain down with her in defeat this November.

Can somebody please tell me what books she tried to ban... specifically.

If she tried to ban books on evolution, religion, philosophy etc, I'll jump on board that what she did was wrong.

If she tried to ban copies of the Anarchist's Cookbook, Bombmaking for Dummies or Child Porn and it's Role in 20th Century Cinema... I won't be concerned.
