LOL Keep believing everything you read. I mean it's amazing. I dont' believe ANYTHING I read on either side till I research it.
I'm not researching this other crap because I'm done for awhile but I read the article and see the same name coming up over and over as on other Palin trashing topics and throughout her career from school to Governor: Ann Kilkenny, a Democrat who said she attended every City Council meeting in Ms. Palin’s first year in office, said Ms. Palin brought up the idea of banning some books at one meeting. “They were somehow morally or socially objectionable to her,” Ms. Kilkenny said.
It's so funny the Dems all trash her experience as being a soccer mom and stupid then you all complain when she is accused of being a skilled politician with the ability to effect change and get results.
THEN you cherry pick what's believable or not and don't even get facts. Like the Governor supporting the secessionists which wasnt true either.

Do you want articles from AK from when it happened?
I'll find them. One of them is archived and costs $$$ to view, so I'll have to try and find an alternate source.
Both are illegal and would not be found in a library.
Illegal? What? Why would they be illegal? Could it be that someone deemed them unworthy of being protected from censorship? And if so, who is making those decisions?
In these coming hard economic times, I want to be able to make some meth to sell. You're trampling my rights!

Manufacturing drugs and child pornography are illegal.
There is a huge difference between banning a book on gay penguins, and not allowing illegal materials in libraries.
So far no one has provided any proof at all that the librarian was fired as a direct result of this conversation with Palin, nor has there been any proof that the librarian was not fired for good cause, even if her firing was related to the conversation. For example, did she become disrespectful to Palin, and refuse to answer her questions? That could be grounds for being fired.
Was the librarian actually fired? I've read that the librarian and the police chief both received letters telling them their services were no longer required, so they needn't bother to show up for work any more, but then that the librarian was re-instated when she agreed to support a library/museum merger plan that Palin wanted to accomplish (though it didn't happen). It does sound like Palin fired people who didn't support her political plans, and that doesn't sound like a fair way to treat people who are city employees, but it's important that the complete story be told, not snippets of the story that support various people's agenda. Palin does agree that she asked the librarian how to go about banning books, and city council members also agree that she raised the issue at city council meetings, but there isn't any mention of particular books that she wanted removed. Palin says her question to the librarian was a simple inquiry, and that her question to the librarian if she would support any censorship measures was a rhetorical question, but the letter firing the librarian does suggest that Palin's velvet glove may be pretty thin when wielding the iron hand.

That's why I'm asking what "Certain" books were attempted to be banned... If she asked to specifically ban books that opposed her conservative viewpoints, but didn't cross legal lines... I have a problem with her.
If she merely asked, what is the process for banning books, but didn't state specifically what she was looking to ban.. it's just an inquisitive question.
If she asked to ban something that's specifically illegal, I have no problem whatsoever.
