Honestly, I almost want Obama to win just so black america will stop making excuses.
I'm very anxious to see if black america will progress under Obama.
Don't get me wrong.. I hope and pray things getter better for black america. I'm tired of hearing the excuses.
I don't care about the black, almost black, half black du jour issue. I DO care about the damage this socialist Manchurian jerk may be capable of. One thing certain, he's hardly "America First" with McCain we KNOW where his allegiances are.
But wait, he is, afterall, the one the world has been waiting for. So let's not just quality the change in America or in the AA community, I expect worldwide change in the first 6 months. Dream big, it's a CHANGE thing, you know???
Not really. The thing is that is not just a race thing. In my military travels around the world. I find that people in a certain class level from South America to Asia to Europe you find the same thing. Here we only see race, because that's what we choose to look at through goggles. Classicism is the real enemy, but you are not taught this because poor people would join together to change there conditions. As long as people are able to say "at least I'm not those people" even though they are in the same place, things won't change.
I couldn't agree more. And I'm ashamed to say I've fallen into the classicism attitude myself at times. I grew up in a poor area of Cheektowaga, called; Tiorunda, NY. Go ahead and google it. It's not a pretty place. ( example: From the song “Tiorunda Surprise.” Tiorunda is a housing project in Cheektowaga, NY and can be seen from the 33 Expressway between Harlem Road and the Thruway exchange. The song is about a girl living in the projects who dreams of a better life. Having lived near Tiorunda growing up and knowing what an ugly, depressing place it is, Nile is able to convey both the hope and desperation of many who live there. )
Now I have more money than I know what to do with. And I favor Obama's tax plans because even though I'll have to pay more, I know it will end up benefiting me most by improving everyone's living situation, thereby improving mine. (Some people call it Karma, however, I don't buy into that)
Back to my original thought (my A.D.D. is kicking in) I sometimes find myself looking down my nose at others in need and thinking, "Geez, I made it, how come you haven't?" And thinking that rural or city-poor or thug type people are just gross. How quickly we forget where we came from....
I don't think Obama will do that, I am hoping his win will lift all those burdened now and give them hope and have them come to the realization that if you work hard enough, no matter where you grew up or how poor you were, if you bust your arse, you too can make it.
So yeah, I believe it's more about class nowadays than it is about color.

The person you are today isn't entirely your own fault, but as a White male you had every unearned advantage you could hope for so I can't feel too sorry for you.

Yeah, because there are no white people on welfare or receiving any help through any government programs- just those no-good blacks, right? Way to go- you've managed to set evolution back about 100 years (but then again, you probably believe in creationism, right??? )
