I heard the work was slowing a little as they approach the coast due to having to check and recheck for old bombs and mines on the seafloor from WWII. Not everything has been found.

This is a technical point, also part of the work. After all, this is not a race, not a competition, but a construction project.

It would not be good to lay the pipe through a field of sunken mines no one knows about. You really need to make sure the area the pipe will lay is clean of old ordnance. Inert or not.

Sure. And this was done, I suspect that the bottom at the place of the bookmark was even subjected to minesweeping (otherwise it is impossible to say through the translator)

A question for Russians: What the Red Star symbolize in today's Russia??

I know it's used as a Roundel for the Russian Aerospace Forces but I see the Red Star still on top of buildings, on decorations, emblems and so on...

For example, in my collection of Vostok watches there is this Komandirskie watch

On top the Coat of Arms of modern Russia and a yellow rimmed red star below.

What does represent?? A general symbol for the military??

News on this topic: the Kalashnikov plans to sell the Molniya to the Tactical Missile Armament Corporation (корпорацию «Тактическое ракетное вооружение»). TMAC is developer and supplier of anti-ship, anti-radar and multipurpose missiles designed to equip tactical aircraft, ship and coastal missile systems. I still don't understand why they need a civilian shuttle. This is very strange and most likely a shuttle will not be created in the near future.

Yes. For this watch brand it is a tribute to tradition, the brand has been produced since the middle of the 20th century.

+
But now a new army logo has been approved, if I'm not mistaken:

But, IMHO, a red star is better.
