They shelled the vicinity of Donetsk today ( or yesterday) and almost killed yet another child in the process. Saw it in the news today, but didn't have time to check on details.
In fact their chief of the general stuff R. Chomchak (or whoever he is - boss of their so-called *military*) is not denying already that they are getting ready to attack LDNR.
They are p*ssed that "Normandy format" ( i.e. Russia, Germany, France,) were discussing the situation day or two ago, without inviting any Ukrainian reps in.
It's the Ukronazis having tantrum for just the reason you said. If they do something they will be crushed.
Scary thing is they're probably crazy enough to try...
Aww poor Russians, being harassed by Europeans watching what they are doing in their backyard. Pooty poot going to send his Lavrov dog to stamp feet again? Everything is the US's fault right? Water crisis in Crimea, America. Crazy guy shooting grenades at cops, America again. Russia making it required to install government spyware on Russian cell phones? All because of that USA.
From the info concerning where the troops are deployed it's one hell of a threat posture. Voronezh areas deployment was the piece of the puzzle I was looking for. 32k in the Crimea, 28k rebels in the Donbas and up to 50k to the east of them is bad enough. It's unknown how many they have in the Voronezh area. Units deployed for exercises but didn't return to barracks and reportedly left the exercise areas to the surrounding region with more coming in to replace them. That's not an exercise area, that's a staging area. The key is what is the size of that force? What are they hiding in the forests? What is further back?
The deployment is looking like it should if the Russians want to cut Ukraine in half. That would create a situation where anything the Ukronazis had east of the Dneipre would be cut off and torn to pieces if they didn't run like scalded dogs.

Yup. America is responsible for a LOT of the misery in this world.

They are, yet at the same time everyone knows that any attempt of Ukr troops to attack LDNR will mean the end of the "Ukrainian state* in its current shape and form.
So the Ukrs hope for American backup, yet Biden still didn't even call Zelensky, since as I've said, apparently Ukraine becomes more and more toxic for him.
But since Russia is bringing troops to the border out in the open ( to discourage any Ukrainian stupid ideas,) Americans are getting concerned enough, so some big wig in Pentagon already contacted his counterpart in the Russian army. ( Don't remember names now off top.)
To which Russians basically said that no, they are not planning any "invasions of Ukraine," ( not interested in it,) but the US need to explain to their colony that it should calm down and to behave.

50k Russian soldiers is nothing. Guderian killed that many a week on average.

Well, if you consider that usually a Russian soldier "takes" two or four opponents with him to the "gardens of Valhalla", then a problem is possible, Houston..
