DKM is a great politician isn't he? with all the media I've read from the Donbas it's utterly pointless to even try to get them back due to the attitudes of the people. They will never forgive the Kiev junta for what they did. Not for a long long time.

I suspect he is a *great democrat* first of all.
As in "do what I told you to do or else," this is the ONLY way to the "Great Communist"... err.. sorry - "great European" future.
Even if we'll set aside the fact that I abhor "the Chinese path," the first condition for this *path* was America moving its industrial base into China.

Not only that, but China was considered by Clinton's America as a more "docile and convenient option" for that, whereas Russia was supposed ( according to Clintons) to go only down and down, (to disintegrate and so on.)
AND to bring the whole picture up to a T, killing Russia off was killing "two rabbits with one bullet," because Russia was a unique potential market for European goods, that were historically wanted and appreciated in Russia. ( This, in turn, would prop European economy a great deal.)
Instead, Russia was flooded with Chinese-made junk, that was bringing dividends to American corporations yet again.
So speaking of "we love Europe.." as the tune on this forum often goes..

Nothing stopping them from moving to Russia. Inhabitants of a village can't chase away half the people and declare their right to change the country their village belongs to. It doesn't work that way. Putin knows this too.

The people in the diplomatic corps, Pentagon, contractors, and think tanks who are advocating the policies usually have a financial interest in toppling a government and profiting from the aftermath. They jockey for lobbying and consulting positions in the new government and in the US companies seeking to profit from reconstruction and privatization.
I recall reading that only 4 out of the 28 advisors in favor of the Iraq invasion didn't have a financial interest.
Remember there were political consultants in Russia who profited from helping to rig the 1996 election to get Yeltsin elected. They landed on the cover of Time magazine.
