Russian language is 150,000 words. English is 400,000 words (a lot of archaic words). At the same time, Russian is a very archaic language. Russian is pretty close to the ancestor of the Indo-European language/
And that's the key understanding ( along with couple of other factors) to why all this "counting" is wrong (modern Russian dictionaries do not include pre-Peter's archaisms and in case of staple Ushakov's dictionaries, - nothing even from pre-Pushkin's times.)
Here is the article that explains how this counting is done, and why English language comes up with much bigger counting of words than Russian)))
Stupid languages having so many variations. At least in this aspect Finnish is easy. "Lauma" is a flock/herd/anything for mammals, and "parvi" is for birds and fishes.

Spoken like a true hunter-(gatherer) and that's what I think Finns are))))
Yes it does. In Gomel the Kruschovskis my sister in law lived in had color coded trim for each building. It's also done to brighten up the bleak monochrome landscape in winter. It helps maintain color vision also.
