You can change the sign, but you can not change people and the cultural code of the nation. Russia is Russia.

As a matter of fact there are many. Westerners need to understand that Russia is different, the climate, landscape and nature itself from what they know. It's the only place I've ever seen a swamp 100+ miles wide and flown over forests seemingly endless. Russia faces challenges in all aspects that other countries have never had to deal with at all.

Russia is a place where in the morning you can go into a completely modern shopping center shop, play and have lunch then drive 10 miles from the place and be on the locals menu. Modern to primordial all in minutes. Nature has not been crushed in Russia as it has been in the west. Its still there. Among all that "uncivilized" vastness there are a lot of small communities of people of many different persuasions living in many different ways from downright primitive to modern but conservative urban centers such as Belgorod and beautiful, ancient cities like Smolensk and Kazan.

There are all manner of backward and modern places in Russia, the full spectrum. Educate yourself and go there and see for yourself. If you listen to the pundits and media of the west you'l forever be ignorant and that's really sad.

What genre of television is most popular in Russia? Here in the U.S., the biggest category of television shows would be reality (Usually in name only) and crime dramas. I heard that political talk shows are very popular in Russia.

I like the talent shows. I have the impression they're popular over there, too.

It was in beforePutin era. Now any political talk shows in an online mode are forbidden and spent only in records after censorship.
