Check on your payments about your 401K and
whatever else pension plans you may or may have.
Be careful with going back and forth to the USA for tax reasons.
There are limits of having to stay out of the country.

LBNL, umbrella first then raincoat !!
That is a good point, I need to check with my tax consultant on the implications.

I would surely have to pick up a couple of rain resistant jackets, havent needed any in CA for the past few years

Uhmmm, when you do, pick up some rain resistant stuff,
they do not have to be acid resistant ...

Or spray with WD40 ???
As an American that stuff should be in your goodie bag,
you should bring with you besides the duct tape and coat hangers

I can say this since I now know what kind of a person you are
and also to be a Californian to boot !!

Since my retirement in 2002, I spent my time
thinking up smartaleck answers which often
are only understood by Californians ...
I lived in California for over 20 years !!
Playa del Rey and Santa Barbara Area !

Haha, no need to. You can buy WD40 in every dutch hardware store and in lots of grocery stores like Action and Aldi.
You can also get sprays for making a jacket water resistant.

BTW here's a fun site about the Dutch customs and daily life. It's pretty funny and very spot on. I'm pretty sure you'll find some strange things about our culture and this site explains it pretty good.

Good luck, I am super jealous!!!!
The grass is always greener somewhere else, probably half the Dutch population would like to escape to Canada, Australia, or the US if they could.

No 3 - also"muisjes" (no need to ask why). The weirdest thing I ever saw put on bread.
No 11 - I think we Brits own the copyright to this one
No 16 - ooh! Controversial or what?!
No 29 - a very, very strange habit, especially zoute dropje. As if the sweet version isn't odd enough.
No 30 - linked to 29, but not obvious to an English speaker
No 35 - evil when you're drunk. The most extreme I've even encountered is at a fab restaurant called Van Speyk in Centrum. Almost vertical, and the loo is at the bottom.
No 41 - tell me about it (I'm a shortarse). The Dutch army is the tallest in the world. It's because the country is so low, they have to stretch to see out.
No 58 - the most insane I've ever witnessed an entire population go for one day.

I think you need a happy pill or three. Surely you must be in the best place for such therapy?
