I've seen guys just stand by their lockers naked and talking on their cell phone. Apparently their call was so important that they couldn't take a minute or two to put some clothes on.
Cell phone use has been banned in every locker room in every gym where I’ve been a member. So that’s one issue.
I wonder why people don't use the family locker rooms? I was in my Y locker room the other day and a guy had his daughter with him. The girls I have seen in the male locker room are typically around 3 years old.
The family locker rooms are private and have a shower, toilet, and sink. Best of all is the floor is likely dry. I wonder if the family locker rooms have not been publicized enough.
I wonder the same. I've seen a few families use the ones we have (I swim a lot and I can see the family rooms from the pool). They are never crowded. And ours are the same with a shower, toilet, and sink.
I never say anything or ask why, but I do wonder why. The only thing I can think of is a lack of awareness of how what they do impacts others.
I’m fine with it. Being naked in front of people probably bothers other people more than me. I never really internalized the shame/modesty thing the way most people have. I also don’t equate nudity with sexuality, which are also commonly linked.
Seeing/showing a body isn’t a big deal. It’s just a body. We all have one.
I'm the same, I don't understand why it should be an issue in a room that's designed for it. Doesn't make any sense. You might as well ask, "Are you ok with being clothed in public?" Well, yes, that's fine too.
I used to be insecure and feel vulnerable as an adolescent, I was an "early bloomer" and that attracted attention which I didn't like. But once I grew up I got over it.
For many years I used a university gym/locker room that had students, faculty, and staff, and from many different countries. Some people liked to cover up, others didn't, and sometimes I would, sometimes I wouldn't, but seeing other guys naked was just like part of the wallpaper. Who cares? There was a group of Brazilian students one summer that were the most gregarious and uninhibited with their bodies, I think it shocked some of the more uptight Americans. They had zero hesitation about getting naked.

Well, this occurred back when I was in high school when cell phone were relatively new and didn't have cameras on them. So maybe they weren't banned at the time. I used to go swimming at the YMCA when I was a teenager. I don't anymore, so I don't know if things like this still occur.
A few years back I was getting a physical. My doctor asked if I would be okay with a young intern observing. I said, "no worries" so she watched while he felt my testicles and prostate for lumps, among other things.
Afterwards, they both thanked me and added that many people say "no" to an observer.
Interns have to learn some time, and I'm not shy after decades of communal showers in school, gyms, youth hostels, and occasional visits to nude beaches around the world. Ironically, I do have a "bashful bladder" which causes me to sometimes have trouble peeing if someone else is watching.
Undoubtedly, I was more attractive as a teenager than as a 60+ year old, but that's life.
Doing it outside, in public is another challenge, in our sterile society.
Once you "get over yourself" being naked outside, the mind-set you gain is quite strong. Only problem, is the rest of the naked people, you don't really want to see them naked. Especially when they're playing tennis. In Borrego.
Seems like a lot of people are too uncomfortable with being seen naked
Ashamed of their own body?
Raised in a prudish environment?
Constantly comparing themselves with others?
Having unhealthy thoughts?
Confusing nudity with pornography?
Programmed by our culture since childhood? It is not a universal. It's mostly our backward culture.
Discomfort with nudity, yours or others, is an unnatural and harmful learned behavior.
As long as you don’t drop the soap you are fine.
