So once again, where do you draw the infinitesimal line between these 2 terms. This is just to get a better understanding of the notation women use to express their ideas, nothing more. I've been called cute a couple dozen times, but never referred to as handsome. Is that saying something ?
IMO "cute" is mostly about personality, mannerisms, and just the way the person is. Someone doesn't have to be handsome to be cute, and personally, I'd prefer "cute".

It's not just looks - personality & mannerisms - how a guy carries himself really conveys alot about who he is will say if he's more cute than handsome or more handsome than cute - also a guy can be both.
This will also say to me a little, too, if he's more of a boy or has grown in to a man.

Cute or handsome is a compliment

Ok, OP you got it: put on 20+more years, get some gray hair, broaden your shoulders (and not forget about horizons), get a bit weathered, and you will have a right to become handsome. Basically, if a woman wants to get under, or put her head on your chest, it's "handsome." If she wants to buy you ice-cream, it's "cute."

Some people just choose to say 'cute' to describe a guy, or girl, instead of saying 'handsome' or 'pretty'. I've noticed that in a few people, including one of my friends.

I use both but that's to describe different types of looks. I associate cute with either a more youthful look, or a less-than-perfect look that still has appeal. Sometimes one's likable personality can make a person appear cute.

For me, handsome is a more perfect face with minimal flaw. To me this is handsome:

OK, so the verdict is that cute is a resemblance of youthful personality, while handsome is an attraction to maturity.

Sounds about right. I still have that boyish character within me .

This just goes to show that cute and handsome are in the eye of the beholder.
I think George Clooney is cute. But, I'm probably judging him by the way he appears on tv interviews. I don't know him personally...
He shows off an engaging personality in interviews so that makes him cute to me.
