I love to wear my boot cut jeans, I've tried skinny jeans and a) I'm too old for them and b) my ass is way too big so IMO they look stupid.

I do have straight jeans to wear with boots but they make my feet look huge when I wear them with flats.

I get strange looks when I'm out and about (Oxford Street in London was a hoot, I stood out like a sore thumb) and the lady I housekeep for seems to think skinnys are the way to go (shes a size 2 I'm a 12)

How many others are devoted to their boot cut jeans ?

Hmm...I wear boot cut all the time and I definitely don't get any odd looks.

Is there supposed to be something wrong with boot cut jeans?

I never get weird looks, and I am in boot cut jeans almost every day.

I love my boot cuts, and haven't noticed any strange looks. And I'm super sensitive to people looking at me oddly, lol.

I, also am older, OP, and have probably a similar shape to you (bigger behind in comparison to the rest). I do wear skinny jeans, under a tunic or longer cardigan or blazer. Sometimes with flats, sometimes with boots. Love wearing my cowboy boots over them.

Anyone don't like it.....the hell with 'em!!

Boot cut jeans are fine-- with boots. I don't think they look good with flats, but the combination is hardly strange look-inducing. (I personally reserve my strange looks for spiked heels and jeans.)

Are boot cuts and bellbottoms out of fashion where you are, OP? Skinny's are everywhere, here, but bootcuts and flares are worn, too. Flared jeans have made a small comeback. Stella McCartney has some nice ones on the market, if you haven't noticed.

And btw, it's easy enough to wear a sweater or a tunic or a cool jacket to cover your rear, if you're wearing skinny's (or any other style). Having wide hips means you look very shapely from the front, in skinny's. It's easy enough to camouflage the rear view.

I am pear-ish shaped (bigger butt, big thighs) and I only wear skinny jeans. Since all jeans are tight around my thighs, my feeling is two fold:
A. The bootcuts exaggerate the size of my thighs with the taper at the knees and the flare
B. Since skinnies are intentionally tight, it doesn't look weird to have tight legged thighs and calves

I wear a hip length top with mine and make sure the waist hits at a flattering place. I typically wear flats or booties with my jeans. Heels are rare. The biggest challenge left is finding ones that actually fit snugly around my calves, which are small compared to my thighs.

Yes, boot cut and flares...I also have straight legged jeans (not skinny jeans, they're just not for me) for running around shopping and doing errands.

I love boot cut jeans. I wear those or straight leg jeans. Then there's flared jeans, which are similar to boot cut.

Skinny jeans are unflattering to most women, IMO, and are uncomfortable. And my butt isn't even disproportionate to my body. When I tried on skinnies, I found I had to buy a size larger. They also would look better with long tops, which I don't like. I think it's more flattering to emphasize my hips, so I like tops to be shorter and snugger around the hip area. Wearing a long top looks boxy on me. Skinnies also look weird with athletic shoes, which is what I wear for running the roads.

Boot cuts ARE in style again, I thought. I wore straight leg for years, then started seeing the flared and boot cut everywhere, so I started wearing those. They are flattering. The wider legs at the bottom balance the wider hips that women have.

I completely agree. I'm glad to hear that other women are wearing the flares. When I posted around this time last year that flared jeans were back in the stores and the fashion magazines, nobody believed me, lol! I guess it was too new at that time. I sure was glad to see them come back, though.
