Mother's Day is coming up, and I would like to impress my mom with something nice, but not too expensive. On Amazon, I am seeing a lot of brands that I never heard of, and I don't want to buy her no-name junk.
I was wondering, does anyone know some good mid-range women's clothing brands? I know she isn't into athletic styles, nor is she into preppy styles (I know what you are thinking, but I know that isn't her style).
We all know that specific types of clothing are your thing. If they're not your mom's thing, maybe get her something for mother's day that she would want (and not what you would want.) Most moms like flowers, a meal out, a gift card for a pedicure, something like that. Buying people clothes, unless they've given you a specific size and style, is usually not a great gift.
Does she like relaxed styles, or fitted styles? Are you thinking of getting a dress or separates?
Is she trim or chubby? Short or tall?
If I were you, I would go to some nice department stores and find an outfit that looks like her. If it doesn’t fit, she can exchange it.
Not knowing your mom, I’d suggest getting something like a cashmere shawl in a beautiful color. Any woman would find it useful, but few would treat themselves to something that extravagant.

I know that she doesn't want restaurant gift cards. For her last birthday I was going to buy her a Stein Mart gift card until our local Stein Mart closed, so I bought her a scented candle instead. Perhaps another candle in a different scent could be an option if I run out of other options.

She wears regular women's sizes (normally an 8 or a Medium). She doesn't wear a lot of separates. She was actually interested yesterday in a dress from Dillard's, although it was too expensive even for her.
Take her to lunch and to Chico's. Their clothing is trendy but appropriate. I am 62 and love the clothes. Just a about all I wear.
I was going to mention Chico's too. Great idea!
