I like boat shoes for both men and women.

With shorts (or bare legs with short skirts and dresses), I like shoes that have a similar color value to the legs wearing them. As in, pale legs wear light color shoes. The dark shoes in the link would look clunky at the ends of my lily white legs, but nice against dark skin.

I'm not saying shoes have to be beige or brown, just lighter or darker shades of any color.

And that's just what I like; you may have different preferences.
