Every time government gets in the lives of their citizens unnecessarily, (regulation) it becomes a disaster.

The most glaring example that I know and have experienced in government run healthcare in the VA. Another example is of course, the "Social Security Administration" (which is broke now, "forced savings" and essentially a ponzi scheme without a question), another is of course Medicare/Medicaid (out of control spending, and dictates of ianane, arcane bureaucratic coding, and of course the imposition of electronic medical records which forces physicians to spend less and less time with examining and knowing their own patients). Another impediment that few have an understanding is C.A.F.E. bureaucratic standards imposed by the Congress in 1975 (a complete do-good, leftist
overreach). I could also add is the leftist insistence on water fluoridation, which to say the least the science is not settled.

Another example is Obama's leftist proposal of net neutrality law...Chile was the first country to adopt this crapp which should tell you something.

Another bad intrusion by government is Dodd Frank. Some would argue that the Federal Reserve was an "invention" which was an Act that was not necessary, and is a "Cabal", and is no more "Federal" than "Federal Express". Controlling market rates in a free market (as a "Central Bank") should never be the function of government.

The Government shouldn't be a source of funding for any group like Planned Parenthood, a private concern...that's another example of making things worse, not better.

These of course are all off topic for sure, but outlawing plastic straws by government is stupid, and is an example of government lookin/creating a solution for the US for a problem that doesn't exist....but the government is good at that........just look at the worthless IRS, which we could eliminate tomorrow and simply employ a VAT, NST, and/or a flat tax.....

Nope, the government can be a real problem....and often it is just that.

PLASTIC BAGS and STRAWS? geez, we have real problems to solve, this ain't one of them.

The federal government was most certainly the solution to enslavement. And to segregation and the denial of the franchise to Blacks. The federal government was also the means by which most of the real estate Americans own was wrested from the Indians.

And in a nation with representative government, free elections and a comprehensive franchise government regulation is a means by which the market makes corrections, the market and the body politic being the same people.

And doing nothing has unintended consequences.

Exactly, though communicating that to those brainwashed by Fox News and Infowars-like "media" outlets is pretty much impossible. Asking for examples is far more useful I find as they're only parroting what's spoon fed to them, and have nothing of substance to offer up.

Let's see how much Publix is going to fight the government on plastic.

Back to the topic of Publix....

I noticed that the big store in SODO Orlando is in the beginning stage of a remodel, possibly in preparation for Lucky's and Earth Fare that should be opening in the next 8-12 months in the same area. They installed front of store refrigerators and shelves for deliveries like Sinatras showed pictures of in a Tampa store. My question is if the InstaCart people are shopping for you, why would they need refrigerators and shelves in the front of the store? Do they fill multiple orders at once, and they are just storing order #1 while they go and fill orders #2 and #3? Or if the store is a high-demand one for the service, do they have people stationed in the store to prep orders so all the drivers have to do is pick them up? Or perhaps is this a precursor to Publix offering a grocery pick-up service in the future?

Given the real estate values and demographics of the area, I could see InstaCart being a bigger deal in that area as recent data has shown that delivery is more popular amongst higher income earners (which I argued pages ago in this thread).
