And instead we got Republican Ron DeSantis who is doing an excellent job and has very high approval ratings.

I hope the Democrat loser Gillum moves out of Florida. Good riddance to any man who would put his wife and children through this.

I'm no fan of Gillum and am happy with DeSantis, but this looks like a blackmail operation gone wrong, to me. And no, it wasn't between Democrats and Republicans. It could have been any one of a number of entities, like a domestic or foreign intelligence agency, or even an industry group.

It's not uncommon for entities like these to target an up and coming political figure. Even though Gillum lost the gubernatorial race, he sort of came out of nowhere and was a rising star. Likely he had plans to run for some other office and he had been spending time with Obama as well.

That's exactly how they do it, too. Probe for a person's weakness, gain their trust like the male "companion" did, get them to do drugs and then when they're out of it and their guard is down, snap photos of them in a compromising situation. Or take video.

From that bit of information about how he was naked and vomiting, it seems that the "geniuses" who set this up got a bad batch of adulterated drugs and things went wrong.

No, and I didn't say that. It's a process of gaining trust and then luring the person, based on what they know about their proclivities.

You don't understand the concept of blackmail?

If this was blackmail (which I highly doubt), it was certainly ill-timed considering the massive focus on the Corona virus. Florida absolutely dodged a bullet with this guy, for numerous reasons.

Again, my speculation is that it was a botched ATTEMPT at blackmail.

I'm not trying to be snotty here, but it seems that there's a lack of understanding as to what blackmail is. The actual incident itself would not be blackmail. Recording it photographically or electronically and then using it later on to get Gillum to do or not do something (such as vote for or against a piece of legislation) under threat of revelation would be the actual blackmail.

Yes, Florida did dodge a bullet, I agree.

kmarc would likely say they coerced Gillum into this situation. It's possible, I suppose.

Unbelievable. Why would you even say that? Cocercion is not the same as luring. With blackmail, first comes the luring and set-up. The coercion/blackmail comes later, using the predictable results of luring.

Good lordamighty, here's the definition of blackmail, then maybe you'll understand what I'm saying:

I'm waiting for the body cam footage to be released. Thank God for the Sunshine laws in Florida as I doubt we'd be seeing anything otherwise.
