I agree with the advice that local Italian restaurants that offer their sauce in the lobby or online are by far the best bets for store bought sauce. Here is an example, but I assume every town has more than a few that offer their sauce:
Classico. There's one with artichokes in it, or I get the tomato & basil and doctor it up with herbs and sometimes meat. For lasagnas, I usually get the garden vegetable Classico because there are chunks of carrots and peppers in there.
What is the price before your coupon? Kroger in this area is about to cancel double and triple coupons.
its .99 a jar for the ragu, prego is on sale 2 for $3. i have .75 off 2 coupon for both (so 1.50 off 2). do you have limited options? my area is pretty full of options so most of them double. when i started the whole coupon thing, path mark would have weekends where they doubled up to $2 or tripled up to $1. but that hasnt happened in a few months, so it was a tease!

We have TONS of grocery options.. this is grocery mecca. But...
They don't sell the sauces that cheaply here, and also doubled coupons are limited to 50 cents and under, tripled coupons are 35 cents and under. This basically makes the 75 cents of 2 items coupons a lot less valuable to me than you. The only place I know of that is still doubling/tripling is Tom Thumb, and they are pricier than Kroger. It may not be worth my while to get the newspaper anymore.
Maybe coupon policies are more generous in higher cost of living areas? Glad you're getting a great deal on your sauce!

thanks, getting great deals seems to have become a hobby of mine. i had no hobbies before and i enjoy it so its good for me. i thought competition was the main draw. there are 2 supermarkets that send me circulars that dont double, i dont even look at their circulars. i hate getting $1 coupons because the doubling stops at .99, i wish they would offer .99 coupons.

It used to be better before they added wine, but it is still tastier than any other canned clam sauce I've ever tried. Of course it's not as good as a great restaurant's, but is better than most restaurants I've been to, and I like it better than my homemade versions.

I don't use store bought "red/tomato" sauce, so I posted Alfredo that I use. It is a pasta sauce, afterall. No?
Regarding couponing, in this high cost of living area "double couponing" from any of the local stores - Publix, Winn-Dixie, Whole Foods, Walmart, has NEVER been. I hate them! LOL! I'm so jealous watching all you post the deals you get. I especially love when the coupon says you have to buy 6 yogurts to get a stinking 25€ off. Whoppee! Isn't that the deal of the year?!?!!!!
Personally, I like Rao's Arabiata Sauce personally. It is $6.95 per jar but if you shop around you can get the markdowns to $2 or so.
