A few weeks back I was watching The Chew and they had an easy pasta e fagioli recipe.. I found it online and made it.
Some adaptations of course.. yum.
Blowing the budget, ribeye steaks, baked potatos with butter, sour cream and chives, a large green salad and an apple pie for desert. That said it's a suprise for my wife when she gets home tonight she is having a bad day a work.
I made a Chicken and Bacon Pot Pie for lunch (yes, again!) so dinner tonight will be some light munching on fruits and veggies. Dessert, (or bedtime snack) however, will be mint chocolate chip ice cream.
I'm looking forward to having a salad and a baked potato. I've been hungry for that ever since I read it on here a few days ago! I love coming here for ideas....
Ooh! I have questions! My chicken and dumplings is good but I know it can be better. Can I ask how you make yours? Do you use the big "dumplings" (which are more like biscuits) and put the chicken and gravy over that? Or are yours the more traditional, smaller dumplings made from dough and snipped into the pot? (This one is my preference.)
How do you prepare your chicken? My old recipe says to boil chicken breasts and then shred them. I find this to be too bland, even when spices are added to the pot later. That's what my chicken and dumplings is missing -- flavor.
I love to cook and I have (and use) over 100 spices in my kitchen. But, this is one recipe I just haven't gotten where it could be.
Suggestions? Tis the season and I like me some dumplings! (My actual dumpling recipe is wonderful! It's the chicken and stock/gravy part that I'm struggling with.
