Yes I enjoy that thread. I believe it's the one where I learned of the wonder known as a Munchy Box. Thanks for your diplomatic efforts to bring our Brit foodie cousins into this welcoming family.
Meanwhile, I'm having one of those "empty the fridge" evenings here. It's 12deg which is cold for us. I had one giant carrot (really big ) and a couple of small elderly potatoes that were still firm but needed to be used. I always have a basket of onions on hand. Carrot, potatoes and an onion sauteed and added to a yellow split pea soup, along with 1tsp marjoram, 4 bay leaves and some olive oil according to 1lb dry pea package. Added 1/4 cup Bacos and a splash of Liquid Smoke in place of ham. It's simmering now on the stove and looks appealing and smells good. Food adventures are fun
Chhhhhhili! LOL I made some very good chili if I do say so myself! However, I am from the "expanding chili/soup" group! Can't make "little" chili, must make mass quantities! Oh well, tastes good and freezes good!

That Munchy Box article is hilarious! I can't quite believe anyone eats that stuff - at least not all at once!
Nice soup QW, lovely recipe, and you can't go wrong with the highly desirable combo of smoky bacon and split pea, plus sweet carrots and onions and some fragrant herbs ooooo mmmm
O yes, and I thought you guys would like to hear more about the much-maligned Haggis, over on the UK food thread
I love all those flavors they do, like a candy store for grownups...

Chilli isn't allowed to be made in small quantities, it's actually illegal
Not tainted, enriched. My husband turned me on to the chocolate coffee years ago when camping.
