I keep it stocked up in the freezer also. Can't run out! Crisis! LOL
So true! When I got down to my last pound I was getting antsy waiting for the holiday sales to start. Then, finally, they did! Whew! Won't have to worry for a while now. lol
What's amazing about the chart is that combined butter and margarine usage was about twenty pounds per person in 1980 and less than nine pounds in 2010. Has the use of oils increased enough to make up the difference or is total consumption of all fats down?
I would imagine the difference is less people are doing their own baking so they are buying less butter and margarine.
I only use it when I make scrambled eggs, omelets, etc so the egg does not stick to the pan. I find if I use butter it burns/browns too easily. That is the only time I use margarine. (Not a fan of non stick pans.)
Margarine is only one molecule away from being plastic.
Converted DW to butter. 91 YO MIL only uses the stick fake stuff, she is still healthy. Hope this link is useful....... I had heard this too. snopes.com: Butter and Margarine
Now, back to my muffin w/ butter, peanut butter and rhubarb jam.

We use only butter in this house, but not very much of it. I use olive oil and butter to saute meats. My great grandmother and mother used butter for baking. My grandmother used oleo (margarine). No one really like grandmother's baked goods very much.
The links clearly state that margarines are not really plastic....now....could they have
TRACES of trans fat they do not have to reveal?
I would say good chance...but I do not know.
I'm not a trusting person when it comes to food companies.
