I made Julia Child's Chicken Fricassee a la ancien. Oh my gosh.....classic, delicious and perfect for the start of a kinda romantic weekend. We used garden tarragon, thyme and parsley. We are having a nice Sauvignon blanc with it. Side dishes are mashed potatoes (yeah, I know, kind of dull..but with that sauce, we couldn't resist). We also had a lovely steamed baby spinach with lemon.
I, too, am rather sick of summer. I actually adore winter in all it's cold and snowy glory. I spend this part of summer hiding in the AC.
Tonight's dinner is a sausage and squash soup. Last night my husband asked if we were ever going to have a squash free dinner again. I laughed and laughed and then told him no. Our squash is booming a little too much this year. .
Change of my plans. It got closer to cooking time and it was 100F. That is horrible and it saps my will to cook. So it's baguette slices and cheddar and granny smith apples for all of us tonight. I'm having a Number Nine and Mexican Sprites for the kids. Budweiser for the husband...yuck!
