Oooooooooh. I used to love Paul & also James Beard's cookbooks. Lost them somewhere along my many travels.
Just finished unpacking & have the blisters & neck pain to prove it. Since I have renter's insurance, the next time I need to move, I'm just gonna take my espresso maker & favorite bra, set the apt on fire & leave the key.
Barely enough energy to make it to the kitchen, but I'm determined to get a veggie into my bloodstream... so, I'll cut up a head of romaine, cuke & red pepper, drench it in lemon/olive oil & some sea salt & stare at it 'til it either wilts or I've eaten it. Water to drink cuz I have no energy to open a bottle.
We stopped for dinner at Texas Roadhouse. I had a coupon for a free appetizer. We got the loaded potato skins, I think that's what it was called. Dinner for me was 6oz sirloin and 5 grilled shrimp, applesauce and corn. 1/2 sweet/non ice tea. Hubby had something quite close to my order. Got 3 boxes to go. Less than 20 apiece for basically 4 dinners and the left-over appetizer. Schweeeeet
Picked up CHinese food - very fresh homemade cooking style:
Spare ribs on the bone
Salt & pepper calamari
House rice (no mushrooms, no pea pods, no shrimp - wife's allergies)
Orange chicken
Spicy green beans
Had a late & filling lunch with a friend in Monterey earlier, so dinner was just a Caesar salad. Drank Stone IPA. Then found room for dessert later: raspberries over a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
tonight will be pork chops and green beans, with dealer's choice of pears or bananas for dessert.
