Has this gone downhill in recent years? I don't remember it tasting quite this...salty, greasy, and overall gross! And it's not because my palate has improved, because I still enjoy all my other junky food, and Campbell's soup was never that.

It's always been very salty, one of the major complaints...

don't use it except on very rare occasions so can't speak to current taste.

Salty yes (as are most canned soups) but greasy? I haven't noticed that. I crave Campbell's chicken noodle when I have an upset stomach. I actually think the salt helps. Chicken Noodle and Tomato are the only ones I will eat though - I have otherwise given up canned soups.

I use a lot of Cream of Chicken Campbell's soup. Not salty for me in the finished dish. I just don't use any additional salt with other components and never seem to notice any salty taste and I do notice salt as I use very little.

I used to love the Minestrone, Italian Wedding, and Vegetable soups, but was disappointed when I tried them again recently. Guess I've been spoiled by Chunky and Progresso (yes, I set the culinary bar high).

I only use the cream of mushroom in recipes, otherwise I generally make my own soup.

Have you tried Golden Mushroom with beef tips over brown rice? No other salt needed.

I don't know if this is relevant, but some medications can alter your sense of smell and taste. I am dealing with that recently with diabetes meds.

This is so true. Many things can change the way our senses of taste and smell work with most any food and possible the salt content of canned soups.

I use Cambells cream of asparagus soup every day and I notice more salt but also no consistency between cans. Also I Really miss their Scotch Broth which they no longer make.
