For chains, a lot depends on the management. I've had Denny's that is horrid, and same with CPK (which is a fave).

Don't get me wrong, totally unhealthy, but it can be well done. We had that happen at one Denny's, it was bad and we didn't go to another for like 5 years, then someone wanted to meet at another one, and it was good.

We eat tomato sandwiches w/ mayo in the summer. Not trashy, but not exactly a culinary art. LOL.

The 'art' lies in growing the maters. I'm still waiting for my first to-mayo sandwich of the season.

Bread should be toasted. Spread should be Hellman’s/Best Foods Mayo, not Miracle Whip. The tomatoes must be garden grown, none of that hothouse polyester.

That, my friends, is cuisine of the highest echelon.

For me, the bread has to be squishy. Otherwise, I feel like it's a BLT without the B and the L.

The brown sugar cinnamon Pop Tarts are a weakness for me.

Baked potatoes with pork-n-beans (no other toppings).

And about every five years, my wife and I make chili cheese dogs ... by the calendar, we are about due again.

I thought I was the only one who thought so highly of Cracker Barrel's pecan pancakes. My people! I'd have them more often, if the parking lot of every CB in Florida weren't jam-packed from dawn to midnight every day.

I also prefer grocery-store fried chicken. Publix has excellent fried chicken, if a little on the salty side. As if that's a bad thing.

One I have not seen yet: I love Hamburger Helper-type meal kits. If I get a good deal on hamburger meat, you can bet I'll be having Velveeta's "Beef Stroganoff" in the near future. And no, "sensible portioning" isn't a 'thing' when there's a fresh pot of that stuff in the house.

I can even enjoy canned biscuits! My mom used to make faux doughnuts with them when I was a kid, coating them in sugar--I can't believe we actually ate them. Popping that tube open with the edge of the spoon is a bit of nostalgia I need in my life once in a while.
Haha my husband could LIVE on Velveeta Cheeseburger Hamburger helper. He eats like a 12 year old, but hey, he's 73 so he gets to.
