Tonight was spent out at Mac's Grill for some prime rib, baked potato (sour cream, cheese, butter, chives), file' gumbo, iced tea, and a glass of Merlot.
Dinner earlier was a tossed salad with balsamic vinaigrette, pasta with braised greens, garlic bread and cabernet sauvignon to drink. Also a couple blood oranges for dessert.
Grilled elk steak, baked potatoes and sour cream, onion rings, tossed salads with grape tomatoes.
I had hoped to have morel mushrooms to add to the meal but no luck yet. It's been fun to get out into the woods though. Things are late this year but now we've had some rain and a few hot days so things should be speeding up.
Tonight, i made spaghetti with sausage, green pepper, onion, garlic, brown sugar, jalapeno peppers, tomato paste, chopped tomatos in a can, and mozarella cheese. i used to make the sauce in one pan, the sausage and onions and green pepper in another, and the angel hair pasta in another. this time i put it all in one pan and it tasted great. i would then add ingredients separately on my plate, but the sauce didn't stick to the pasta.
I saw a You Tube video where you can make taco spaghetti by using these ingredients but add taco seasoning. thought that might be good. also i like the green pepper and onion to not be so mushed, so i fry the sausage first, then when its browned, i add the green pepper and onion and garlic, when that is fried about 5 minutes, i add the sauce. i then have pasta boiling in another pot, so when its tender, i add that to the other ingredients, cook for about 5 more minutes. top with cheese. wow it is so goood! when i add the pasta to the pan with the other ingredients, it seems to stick and not be watery.
the brown sugar offsets the jalapeno peppers and adds a nice flavor.
