I love both, but cake gets the edge.

Smile Caaake.......

CAAAAAKE!!!!! Hands down! My aunt who lived in Brooklyn spoiled me for life when it comes to cake. She'd come visit now and then by train. We'd meet her at the train station and she'd have stacks of boxes from Ebinger's Bakery. The stacks always included a BLACKOUT CAKE!!!!!! I've had some good cakes since but none anywhere close to that.

Now I'm a sucker for a good layer cake. If I go to a birthday party and there's ice cream cake I pout.

If there is cake, I have no problem resisting taking some.

If there is pie, I must have a piece. Even if it is a small piece.

I'm picky though. Apple, pumpkin and sometimes a lemon meringue or key lime. I'm a sucker for baked/cooked apple anything.

My vote is pie.

I am probably more of a savory person too. I like pie 'filling' - if it is made with fresh fruit or real pumpkin (no canned fillings) - but don't like pie crust. I am not that fond of cake either though a rich coffee cake or other non-iced moist cake or a flourless cake can be very good once in a while.

I really wish I'd held out for pies at our wedding instead of cake. I detest about 95% of cake and loathe about 99% of frosting.
My stepdaughter had pie instead of cake at her wedding. The pie shop, Petsi Pies , made a little pie for her and her husband to cut. The whole thing went over huge. People LOVED it. I think it went perfect with her rustic theme.

I voted savory though because I almost never eat either one.

So many endless possibilities.

I like pie but the crust seems pretty monotonous in most, if not all pies..And after a while, there's only so much apple, blueberry, mixed berry, etc, pie that I can eat.
Uh..but then there is coconut cream, french silk, lemon meringue, chocolate cream, banana cream, pecan pie, chess pie, on and on!!!!!!!

Cake. The combination of cake and frosting is magical. You can also do a lot more visually with cake. I do really like fruit pies, but you can put fruit filling in a cake too.

I like both, but a good frosting will push a cake to the top of the ratings. And I mean real buttercreme frosting, not that crisco-and-confectioners-sugar crap they put on supermarket cakes!!

Cake. A moist cake with a not too sweet frosting is delicious!
