April heat almost always feels less humid then comparable temperatures in the ensuing months in the region, mostly because the water is still chilly, limiting the moist flow except ahead of cold fronts, and also because most of the crops are just being planted and have yet to emerge (aka "corn sweat"). That said, the gardens in the region are certainly still ahead of schedule, with the dogwoods and azaleas starting to bloom in the DMV, the lilacs getting ready to bloom, and the daffodils winding down. We surely could use some rain though and this could spell trouble. This year so far reminds me a bit of 2002, when we were coming off a nearly snowless, mild winter and then had a week of temperatures in the upper 80s/low 90s, and then had drought and water restrictions that summer.
