My life is a non-starter here and there is absolutely nothing for me here. And in order to get my life going, I have to move. The only thing is, nowadays you have to have a bunch of savings to make a move like this. 10-12 years ago you could move with almost nothing.

Can't wait.
i really want to know how that goes

I did it and am glad I did. I am in my 50's. I sold the house(no mortgage) and all the furniture. Sold almost everything else except a suitcase of clothes, some personal items and family items that fit in the trunk. I changed my address to my sisters house(same state) so I wouldn't officially be homeless. Pulled out of the old driveway on a Saturday morning(Ohio) and arrived in Arizona on Monday afternoon.

20 days after leaving Ohio I closed on my home in Arizona. Paid cash. Started shopping for everything I needed. Best thing I have ever done.

I did as much research as possible online. Had never been to Arizona before. Found out that 107 here is like 88 in Ohio. that the people are more friendly. Prices are better except for license plates.

I have been told many times that a friend or relative was talking to someone and the person said they wish they could do what I did. I have made a lot of people jealous. When you look back on it, it seems unbelievable that I moved across the country, to a place I have never been, and I am now sure I made the right choice.

No wife, no kids, dead parents, no reason to stay. Having the time of my life now!

I'm married and the primary bread winner. We've done it a couple times to follow my employment. In both cases I secured a job before I moved. But they were pretty much blind moves - as in, wow, I have less than two weeks to sell off stuff, pack up, and move to some place I had never considered before.

It's scary, but always an adventure.

Amazingly, I have moved several times on a literal shoestring. I just found a better job, and made it happen. It all works out...but, I don't own a lot of things either....

I have done this several times in my life, and it worked out in the end both times, it was something I needed to do,
wasn't easy, but glad that I did it in the end. Sometimes adventure or opportunity knocks, and you just have to answer.

Ive done it a few times and enjoyed it everytime. Had a job each time. Gets harder the more stuff you accumulate.

We got rid of a whole lot of stuff through yard sale, Craigslist, Goodwill, and the dump. We rented a UHaul for the remainder and tossed it in a storage unit until we settled in.

We did it twice. The first time we were young (21) and moved from ireland to NY without money, jobs etc. We survived and loved it. We stayed for 25 years.

Now we just did it again this past June. We sold everything we had, luckily had a decent next egg, and bought a house in Pittsburgh. The difference this time was that we had two children. But we are adjusting, kids love it here and love their school and I think they have settled down better than us. My dh and I are still unsettled but there are good reasons for it. We are job hunting but not banging on doors yet. Unfortunatley my dh's mum isnt doing well in ireland and we have made several trips since we moved to sort things out in Ireland. That is the reason why we arent heavy into job hunting yet.

Would I do it again ; in a heartbeat. you only have one life and its better to make it what you want. Whats the worst that can happen ; it dosnt work out, but at least you tried it. No regrets at all.

Life is an adventure. If you're not happy where you are, move on.

I graduated from College in St. Louis and hated it there. Got a u-haul and a cheap car and moved to the Twin Cities. Minnesota got too cold so I got a job in Seattle.

My employer was bought and I was forced to move to Phoenix (not eager to do so, but open minded).

The desert does not agree with me and I miss scenic beauty, so I'm moving back to the Northwest - Hayden, Idaho.

Go for it.
