A bit OT but as I was sick and in bed for the last five days I realized that whittling down my stash of food, dry goods and liquor to a one week supply is not a good idea.
I was in no shape to go grocery shopping on our regular Friday, and by Monday I didn't have enough booze or cat food.
So, lesson learned, until moving week arrives, have two weeks of goods stashed in case you are laid up, sick, or a natural disaster could arrive.
Ugh. Hope you are feeling better!
I had the BF before I moved He joined me here a few months after I arrived.

Thanks, Elle; felt good yesterday and today I am exhausted. Blech.
FWIW mom was dumb enough to put her jewelry box on the moving truck. When it broke down she had to retrieve it because the stuff was staying on the truck until today.
Never, never put valuables like that in a moving truck. Ever.
Well we put in an application today on a rental so I am crossing my fingers we get this one, especially being down to the wire. We decided to leave one of our four dogs with my family, as much as it breaks my heart to do so. He will be happy here until we can find a better option that will allow us to have all 4...that's been the hardest part of finding a house so far.
Starting to pack up more things we don't use on a regular basis. Am I the only one with a husband who likes to watch you pack but not participate?! Lol
Well, we're here. Of course, best laid plans and all that. We had a total nightmare with a water leak/water heater that took over a month to handle. Long story, but finally got it handled so our tenants have a reliable new water heater! We flew in Friday night and the girls drove the dogs -- three days on the road and my youngest was almost in an accident in Oklahoma when a big rig came in her lane and she had no shoulder.
Our movers are supposed to be here Tuesday. We donated so much but still had lots of boxes. The movers estimate was 7100 lbs but we ended up (after more donations) a little over 4000 lbs so we'll have a refund coming. Our car insurance went from $800+ every six months to a little over $700 a YEAR here. I am so thankful I hired a packing/cleaning crew (separate from movers) as I couldn't have done it alone. I got a lot of good info here in this forum so thanks for all who ask questions and provide experience and expertise.
Youngest daughter went to the doctor and she had a whiplash from her near-accident in Oklahoma. She was lucky as another friend/former co-worker of mine had the same situation in/near Las Vegas in early August (big rig came into her lane) and she rolled her car six times. She and her husband had critical injuries and her husband had a massive heart attack in the hospital and passed away. Tragic.
The movers came a day early on Monday July 28th. So far, only one broken glass and pasta bowl. We still have several boxes to unpack but getting there. The kitchen is put together. Bought a new headboard and dresser and they came Thursday along with an entry table I bought. Getting there a little at a time.
United Van Lines refunded over $800 on the move. I have no complaints at all. Their staff was great!
Went through my yarn and put all the skeins I didn't want into two trashbags and gave them to my room mate. I've also gone through my books and decided which one's I want to spend money transporting. I need to start packing but I've got to get boxes first.
Cool thread, we moved from CT to FL in April, living temporarily in an apt as we chose to build a home, can't wait till we get the heck out of this apt..
