Several people have been getting these type of DM's, including myself.
The amount of infantile bitterness here emanating from a certain region is beyong pathetic......
Some people from the south have this Very Strange Bitter Rage against the state of Maryland, DC, and Delaware to the point of denial of them being part of the south.......
Could it be ancient history old Civil War Bitterness........
Looking it up DC has a fairly average percent of Southern Baptists, but average is apparently high for a "Northern city." Although Kansas City has a noticeably higher percent than DC so maybe I've wasted your time. Still it allows me to link to a kind of a neat map to play around with. (On the Baptist thing set it to over 6% and you'll see what I meant.)
And you people in the south wonder why non-Southerners look at southern people as being Geographically, Historically, and Socially Ignorant.......
As long as people in the South Deny Maryland, DC, and Delaware as being part of the South(but continue to Claim Texas as a Southern State when in reality it is part of the Southwest) they will continue to remain in the shadows as being looked upon as people of ignorance and not to be taken seriously by non-Southerners.........
Geographically speaking, yeah MD, DC and DE would be considered southern (If we are going off of the mason dixon line) but culturally, helll no.
And truthfully, we don't really care whether we are taken seriously by "non-southerners". There are much more important things to worry about.
Spoken like a person who has Never been to Delaware except breeze through it along I-95 on the way to New Yalk City.........
Travel down US Hwy 13/Delaware Hwy 1 to Southern Delaware then come back with that Delaware ain't Southern BS Stereotype...........
Southern DE is small town HICK, then you run in to the beach.
Most of the people in DE are in northern DE. Therefore, most people in the state of DE are Metro Philadelphians, and have been for years. Not CSA, but MSA.
Wilmington was NEVER a southern city... in about every book you'll ever see it is grouped with Phila, Trenton, NYC (and BALTIMORE.)
You can keep inching your nonexistant south up to the NYC line if you want. Washington, DC may be the border of the two regions, but Baltimore is the first city in the north. Once you get to Wilmington, you've lost your south completely. Even that "crikey, mate" twang in Baltimore is gone. The rest of DE is an Air Force Base, a large GAY beach, and lots of tiny little towns.
You can straddle the MD Line in southern DE all you want and criticize the people for being "southern," but in the end they're rural people from Delmarva, and are the MINORITY in the state.
If you want to take a survey in DE, you're welcome to, but you'll have to do the majority of it in NCCo, and you'll have to weed out all the PA and NJ people from the Philadelphia area - once you get done with them you'd get nothing but laughs for saying DE is southern.
Perhaps you don't understand, but the majority of DE's history is in New Castle County - if you try to call that the south, you can throw your online credibility out the window - it's clearly a ridiculous claim.
Actually, after seeing the rest of your posts, $MK, you are already incredible - you can't back up your information in any way - I would recommend that people would block you as so they could see the commentary here that matters.

Your opinion will never dictate the fact that Maryland is a Southern State...
And I strongly recommend that people with common INTELLIGENCE will block you and your anti-Maryland kind because there is nothing that will convince you and your kind that Maryland is a Southern State despite the NUMEROUS Facts that we have posted(Including the Map of the Mason/Dixon Line) and your kind have stoop soo low as to Challenge the FEDERAL Government for placing the Facts that Maryland is a Southern State...
The only reason why you and your kind continues to ignore reality of the fact that Maryland is a Southern State is because of bitter hatred towards Maryland and possibly towards Delaware too with that Negative Statement about "Gay Beaches".........
More Bull Sh-- stereotyping which continues to define the fact that most people from the south are not respected by non-Southerners.........
Call it what you want, but having lived in both a southern state and living here in DC now, it is easy to see that they are two different cultures. But hey, you're going to believe what you want, as will I. Have a good night
