Dude, seriously....if I learned anything from trying to defend Scranton, PA all the time from the 99.9% of the nation that despises it (y'all are just jealous because we're "hip" enough to be home to "The Office"), it's that you're not going to convince everyone to love an area just because you love it. I have yet to be successful in improving Scranton's image to the nearby NJ/NYC crowd, just as you have not been successful in improving Virginia's image to the rest of the nation. If anything, people laugh at both of us for being so infatuated with our city and state. I wouldn't lose sleep over this.

Hey Vasinger? Don't get too worked up about the idiotic comments made by someone who goes by the name of "Buckfush". The moniker itself -- sorta for cutsy shock value -- is a clear indication of someone who has a problem with their own instinsic worth. Trouble is, I am not so sure I can follow my own advise! LOL

It is? What criteria are you using as a basis of comparrison? I'm serious in asking. Let's compare and debate.

Hey genius, there would have been NO "butchering" had y'all not seceded and fired upon US in the first place. Get that through your thick skull. Trying to preserve a union does not make us "evil tyrants". And what about your little ancestors who killed my fellow statesmen? Hmm? Does that make you guys "evil tyrants" too? Go ahead and try and justify the south's actions, but thats not something Id ever be proud of. You should be ashamed at that part of the south's history. ASHAMED.

Who's exactly "evil" here?

Agreed. I leave Virginia and North Carolina out of the Mid-Atlantic. They belong in the South.

Also, the South butchered a lot of northerners in that one camp down in Georgia. The North had Camp Douglas, and the South had Andersonville prison. Simply put, the North's history is also shameful because Northerners had no problem returning runaway slaves to their owners. Northerners allowed slavery to exist for over 80 years before doing something about it. THat's pretty shameful if you ask me.

Agreed. In no way do I condone most of the north's behavior, but to leave the union is another story. I mean, the south was willing to die to fight for their rights to preserve slavery. I respect their "enthuisiasm" (for lack of better word) to fight for their rights, but dislike the reasoning.

Andersonville was run by some Austrian. Not a Confederate. The Confederacy could barely feed their own army, let alone the Yankees.
In fact, thats why the prisoners were starving. They simply had no food for them.

Im not saying the South is perfect, but the North wrote history as if they were all about freeing slaves, and that was a flat out lie.

The North didn't care about slaves. They just wanted to preserve the Union.
