In the state of Georgia, metro Atlanta contains both Barrow County (on the northeast side) and Bartow County (on the northwest side).
Meanwhile in Texas, there is Waller County in western metro Houston and Walker County a little north of the metro area.
Another odd county situation is that Vermilion County (with one 'l') in Illinois is right across the state line from Vermillion County (with two 'l's) in Indiana.
Texas has Hilll, Hall and Hale Counties And Lee and Bee.. Also Dallas and Dallam..
Iowa has a bunch of these:
Iowa City is not in Iowa County, it is is Johnson County.
Johnson is not in Johnson County, it is in Polk County.
Des Moines is also in Polk County, not in Des Moines County
Cedar Rapids is not in Cedar County, it is in Linn County.
Keokuk and Fort Madison are in Lee County, not in Keokuk County and Madison Counties respectively.
Wapello is not in Wapello County, it is in Louisa County
Sioux City is not in Sioux County, it is in Woodbury County

Good list. Iowa County is even in Wisconsin. There is a reason for all that. The rivers were named first, and later on, lent their names to towns and counties at different places along their course.
Just like how Delaware County is actually in Pennsylvania, even though it borders DE itself. There's also a Delaware County in NY, which borders its eponymous river. There are also Delaware counties in other states, but are mostly named for the Indian tribes back east.
Similarly, Ohio County in the northern panhandle in West Virginia, despite Ohio being right across its namesake river. Ohio County in Kentucky however doesn't even border Ohio, although it originally did so before Daviess County seceded from it, and the part of the Ohio it bordered was actually across from Indiana. Similarly, Ohio County in Indiana doesn't border the state of Ohio.
Along the lines of counties with another state's name, there's Texas County in the Oklahoma panhandle (which was originally in Texas until the state had to give up all its land north of the Missouri Compromise line to be a slave state).
Sandusky, Ohio is not in Sandusky County, Ohio. Sandusky, Ohio is in the neighboring Erie County, Ohio.
This one may have been mentioned along the way, but Upper Sandusky is about 55 miles south of Sandusky. Upper Sandusky also is not in Sandusky County, instead Wyandot County.
There are 113 "places" (cities, towns, etc) that are named for other states (ie California and Indiana. PA, Kansas, OK).
Of these places Washington (not surprisingly) has the most with 38 places names located in other states. Second on the list is Wyoming with 13.
The list gets even longer when you add "City" or "Ville" or "burg" after the state name.
