Tonopah is in Nye County, NV which is already designated as the Pahrump Micro Area. Most of the county's population is around unincorporated Pahrump at the extreme south end, which is somewhat of a far flung Las Vegas exurb.
New York is a Mid-Atlantic state yet it also borders Canada.
