Three points describe a unique circle, whose circumcenter is the same as the triangle's centroid. A poster had already used that term, so I did, too.

Delaware is 1950sq mi. There are going to be several dozen metro's that exceed that land area. I'm not sure I'd agree it's an oddity.

If Tonopah, Neveda were to double and then redouble in size, it would them qualify as a micropolitan area, which would be nine times the size of Delaware -- or bigger than Delaware and New Jersey combined..

On that note, Delaware is the only state that does not have scheduled commercial airline service

At one time in the 70s, Maine was the only such state. Portland ended its Boston flights, but than a daily f;ight on an 8-seater started landing at Wiscasset and Damariscotta.

Tonopah is in Nye County, NV which is already designated as the Pahrump Micro Area. Most of the county's population is around unincorporated Pahrump at the extreme south end, which is somewhat of a far flung Las Vegas exurb.
