Very low humidity can be uncomfortable too. When I lived in Montana I had to wear chapstick every day, and I'm a guy!

Look into Southern Oregon. I'm told it has mild weather, although not so mild to me, being from SoCal. Generally, the closer to the CA border the milder. Some places do get a lot of snow(relative), but most just get rain and glooom.
The job market is rough here though, so be sure about employment before moving.

I'm looking for someplace warmer and not so gloomy in the winter too, but not hot and humid in summer.... and as a bonus, it needs to be affordable on a fixed income.

San Fran and the Bay Area is the best climate on earth for what you are looking for as well as San Diego if you can afford it.

Texas, McAllen, Mission, Roma, San Benito and all of south Texas including San Antonio Texas are your best bets for low humidity and very mild winters also, very affordable.

It appears that the OP hasn't been back to comment for a few years. Does anybody know what decision they made?

Smile Colorado!

You want to move to Colorado! I know in some minds this sounds crazy, but trust me. I'm a 30 year native and have lived in the Denver or Front Range area my whole life. Not all of Colorado is a big winter wonderland. Of course we have days when it snows and it's cold, but also SEVERAL days during the winter that might be 60-85 degrees. We've been having lots of those days lately. Try to stay more along I-25 Castle Rock to Wellington, no more than 20 miles west or 50 miles East of I-25, don't honestly know how the winters are in CO Springs, but don't think they are too bad, just don't do South or West of the Springs. And of course we have low humidity.

Coastal CA gets decent humidity, believe it or not. But the temps dont get hot, so its not very noticeable. If the OP wants low humidity for most of the year, AZ would be the place to go. Its not uncommon in early summer (before the monsoons arrive) to see humidity in the single digits. Bring the chapstick and lotion!

Washington state does not get alot of rain, lmbo... the very west coast does but north east is not its very nice weather most seasons, will get snow on occasion but very family oriented and good parades, ppl are friendly, diversity is good and most school systems are superior.. i would suggest liberty lake in wa state, or spokanes south hill is very nice...good luck..oh and when it does snow...make sure you got chains on the hill.

I have no clue what Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, all those are like in winter or summer.

It's amazing what someone's perspective is on a state or city until they go visit. Two years ago in July we went to visit Kalispell, Montana. Here we thought it was going to be all open ranges and desolite for the most part and oh my gosh was it gorgous and like a resort town! But it's more expensive than San Diego even housing wise.

I've checked into Colorado Springs and it seems pretty nice there in summer. Don't know about the winters though. I can't handle these hot summers anymore near Sacramento CA. It's unbearable. I was born and raised in Southern CA and I hate it there.
