True but notice how no one paid any mind to Floyd when SUC was big and their members were getting record deals. Then once his name was the news of the year, “oh yeah he was one of the original SUC members” blah blah. Using his name for a publicity stunt. How fake is that?
MY homie Jeff was an icon in Boston until he moved to LA. He died mysteriously last year under circumstances I don't know but have;t really dug into my social network about. Long Live Jefe.
He was an originator of the Wave Music (minor)movement in Boston. For reason you can tell- his music basically comes in Waves. Other Boston songs his sound inspired:
All have that wave consistency/feel to them- very predictable and mellow and then you build the rest of the track around that up and down feel. ]]Wave music peaked hereThe Good Wave Mixtape, Vol. 1 (DJ Mix). Waviest song (IMO) here

It all started here-
This dude Javon Pemberton moved up here form Memphis in HS- went to East Boston High #JetLife and started the Wave basically, him an Jeff. He was the first dude to make people there believe they could make music. Dumb charismatic and really liked our slang ourstyle and he put a lot of that into his rap but with a more southerner subject matter (i.e. not local gang related) than we were used to hearing. He took some of the edge off and added some soul IMO.
These folks are more established acts locally now (Vintage Lee, Cousin Stizz, Gio Dee), or dead (Von P, Jefe Replay), or in jail (Leano).
In the end Drill Music Started early (as in late 2013, early 2014) in Boston and had probably surpassed the more wavey and Fusion musics by 2020. By then id been gone 3 years.
Hate it or love it, the new "sound" you might've been hearing past few years was created by Philadelphia producer collective, Working on Dying, namely F1lthy.

I identified thatsound ( i don't know if it was Working on Dying who was responsible for the beat) when Lil Uzi Vert Released this right before COVID, i thought it would dominate the early part of this decade:
It quickly led to people in the northeast trying to copy that sound and then spread rapidly. Personally, I absolutely love this new sound and way prefer it over the neverending Metroboomin beats that dominated the latter part of the 2010s. The energy is just electric and fun.

I'm not comparing them 1:1 as they sound completely different, but the way they blended Techno/Electro with Rap and R&B really reminds me of the early Neptunes.
And since we're on the subject of electro-rap, Planet Rock, the earliest use of futuristic+ electro elements in Hip-hop was produced by none other than a Boston dude.
