^^ It was a pretty good "feel good" song, I'm surprised by how popular it was nationwide and not just in the Southwest/West Coast.

It was aa somewhat new sound we hadn't heard and everyone liked Summer Nights!

Also, Churban/Latin urban stations were expanding greatly and this song was dominating Rhythmic/Crossover airwaves, in conjunction with the explosive growth of Hispanic Americans.

Is it just me, or does Ronnie Spencer from “One Day” by UGK have a voice similar to Don Toliver?

there's been a lot of Philly x New England collaborations recently, is this the new wave?

Kinda but not really, people in Boston have been making music with Philly people for about 5 years.

Gillie Da Kid was scouting Mizzie Cash before Mizzie got arrested for murder and had him on his live.

Then you have Q Philly, a Boston rapper who moved here from Philly. "Philly, P on my head, wear that "sh-t like a crown" (a different song than what's here)

IDK about that

Brooklyn was making what i would call "drill" music (although they weren't calling it drill) in 2015 and prior

this is where Brooklyn drill started popping off with the use of British producers

Might have been contemporaneous to when Boston started but 2014/2015ish is when i remember hearing drillesque music out of Brooklyn

Philly came late to the 'drill' wave in 2017.

This was the typical flow/sound from 2017-2019:

What separates Philly rap from the other NE cities IMO is the prevalence of Trap-N-B rappers similar to Baltimore and the South. I'd argue PNB Rock was one of the first mainstream artist of that genre.
