I'd prefer to live in New Hampshire out of all the New England states because it's got the mountains, the ocean (Hampton Beach is beautiful), the biggest city in Northern NE, NYC and Boston are only a few hours away.
Unfortunately, I've never been to the New England states. Yesterday I asked my sister, "Wouldn't you rather live some place else than Texas?" To my surprise, she said, "Yes, Vermont. It's absolutely gorgeous."
Vermont is my favorite for the following reasons. Mountains galore. River valleys and gorges are are plentiful. It's very rural with the only cities being Burlington, Rutland and probably Brattleboro. The native people are typically reserved New Englanders and anything but pushy or over bearing. It's also close to Montreal, Boston, Hartford or Albany if you need some metropolitan culture from time to time. The downside to all this is the lack of affordable housing and specifically single family homes.
Maine. Rural and peaceful, it's probably the most pleasant place I've been to. I'd probably like New Hampshire and Vermont as well, but haven't yet spent as much time in those places. Can't wait to get back up that way.
Mass...I'm from here. And come on, it's the most well know. Everyone knows Boston. I don't even know the capital of all the over states in New Englad. Not to mention there aren't any pro sports teams from the other states, and if there are, I don't know them...proving another point, haha. Don't get me wrong, I looooooove Vermont, it's sooo pretty. And Maine is okay too.
But Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, hello?
The Spirit of Massachussettes, is the Spirit of America!
